In this paper the expediency of using one of the basic concept in metrology - true value of physical quantity - is discussed. It’s shown, that in modern conditions the description’s complexity of researched objects, of their properties, of processes and signals doesn’t allow in some cases to allocate a model unequivocally, which would be ideally agreed with the qualitative properties’ description at quantitative sense and at the greatest degree. It was concluded that concept "true value" doesn’t play a main role in metrology.
