The article describes the performed works on the research of influence of the indentation speed in the hardness measurement on the Rockwell’s scale. The sensitivity coefficients over a full range of indenter penetration speeds in the measure of hardness are defined. The dependences of measured hardness from indentation speed while using spherical and conical indenter are received. The influence of the indentation speed on the expanded uncertainty at the hardness measurement in the range of 60-70 HRC is presented. The works were held using the national primary standard of hardness units of Ukraine (DETU 02-04-99), within the framework of preparing the standard to the international comparisons according to the project CООМЕТ 560/UA/12.
