In assessing the total uncertainty of atomic-absorption measurements main sources of uncertainty have to be taken into account. But for the reference them to the main sources the empirical and subjective analyst’s opinion isn’t enough, especially when such complex objects as blood and urine are analyzed. At the same time possible sources of uncertainty as matrix effects and limited stability of the spectrophotometer aren’t often taken into account. It is shown that matrix effects significantly increase the total uncertainty and therefore they should be considered, but the impact of spectrophotometer’s limited stability is small.
