It is considered at present that the best way for enhancement of image sharpness consists in averaging the results of accumulated images. However, as far as this requires an availability of several superposable images, this method may not be implemented in a series of applications spheres where such images cannot be obtained. For this reason the image sharpening filters are widely used in applications, which are based on differentiation operators. For these conditions a performance analysis of image sharpening filters is carried out and the measures are proposed for increasing their efficiency on solving a number of important application problems.
