The article is devoted to the determination of relationship between the students’ results in learning a foreign language and the level of educational skills development. On the basis of sets of communication, intellectual, organizational and information skills it is offered to form the joint set areas corresponding to the levels of language proficiency. The size of the areas increases with the general knowledge growth. A training technology for general educational skills development with regard to the approach offered has been considered.
