This work studies the reasons behind the emergence of stress state in the metal of steelwork beam elements of industrial structures. In order to analyze the impact of the metal stress state on the acoustic signals’ parameters, a control system was developed, allowing the laboratory testing of tension and compression stress and in a view to study their impact on parameters of an acoustic signal. In order to analyze the data obtained in the course of experiments a mathematical apparatus that permits to identify validity of obtained data was developed. Several methods of experimental testing were developed in order to identify the dependence of acoustic signal on stress parameters of the structure elements and to confirm validity of the data obtained.
