Peculiarities are discussed of mathematical training of future military and civilian engineers of late 19th -early 20th centuries and of today’s engineers. Historical prerequisites are revealed for development of mathematical training of future military and civilian engineers. Comparative analysis is done between time apportioned for mathematical disciplines in the secondary and professional education system of the period under study and in contemporary Ukrainian education system. Mathematics programs of secondary and higher education institutions are subdued to comparative analysis.
