Improvement of existing and creation of new methods in foreign language teaching in technical universities is especially important for students with zero motivation. In the article the idea of formation of learning motivation on the basis of general educational skills is offered. The concept of "motivational graduation" is introduced. The improvement of students’ general educational skills may bring success, which will help them to develop foreign language proficiency and further stimulate their interest in the subject.
