The problems of the railway tanker residual life with operational damage is observed in the work. A modeling of the different sizes "dents" type damage has been conducted on the based on finite element method. Maximum size of possible damages in the most common places has been determined. An investigation of the influence of the residual stresses that occur in partially damaged tanker on life-time of the rail tankers boilers. A residual life time in dependence of the dents damage depth has been determined. Keywords: residual.
