In the article, based on the data on the effective surface of the helicopters, which is reflected, taking into account the influence of the main propeller, the possibility of increasing the range of detection of the helicopter in conditions of its location over the sea is considered. The peculiarity of the considered possibility of increasing the range of the location of the helicopter is the existence of a tropospheric radio wave over the sea, within which the helicopter location is carried out. Obtaining data on the effective surface of the helicopter scattering is carried out on the basis of considering the peculiarities of use when calculating the high-frequency method. The main stages of the computational procedure of the effective surface of the helicopter scattering are considered, taking into account the features made by the rotational effect of the helicopter's main propeller. The generalized results of the statistical radar characteristics of the helicopters, which are obtained by summing the average effective scattering area of the screw with an effective area of the fuselage diffusion, were used to estimate the range of the helicopter's discovery, located within the tropospheric radio wave over the sea.
