Description: Opportunity of using nonlinear feedback shift registers (NLFSR) of the second order as the main element of the stream cipher system is considered. The system of criteria and indicators of evaluation of cryptographic protection of NLFSR is proposed; on the basis of the evaluation quantitative assessment of the benefits of applying NLFSR instead of linear feedback shift registers in stream cipher algorithm is substantiated. This model of evaluation is recommended to use for complex evaluation and scientifically grounded decision on expediency of application of the chosen stream cipher structure.
