Characteristics and methods of application of modern and perspective types of mines and other explosive devices (ED) in wars and local conflicts of last decades, also demining peculiarities and modern methods of detection of the objects in the ground and close to its surface based on different physical principles were analyzed. Main attention was focused to ground penetrating radars, which are more informative for considered object detection. It was shown that for decreasing of false decision making probabilities during the ED detection and identification it is necessary realization of received signal processing algorithms in which a priory information about scattering properties of detected objects is used. Technical demands for perspective system of detection and identification of ED located in the ground or close to its surface.
