Description: The concept of reliability of small arms in modern conditions of its exploitation is considered. The analysis of known concepts about the reliability of small arms using the latest scientific publications, educational literature and State standards of Ukraine. Newest rifle weapons are complex, many nodes technical systems. Recently in these systems weapons are used electronoptical devices. Therefore, when using it, various types of failures may occur. Particular attention is paid to the consideration of operational and resource failures. The components of the reliability of small arms include the following properties: faulttolerance, durability, reparability, preservation. In the presence of a large number of reliability indicators that do not allow a general assessment of the level of reliability of existing small arms and to determine the desired level of reliability of promising weapons on the basis of the performed analysis, it is proposed to use a comprehensive indicator as a reliability indicator of small arms, which allows us to assess the reliability of the rifle armament of a military unit at different stages of its operation: intended use and storage, as well as to take into account the influence of factors on the state of armament, to identify ways to provide the necessary level of reliability of armaments during the design, production and testing of weapons samples.
