Description: The article examines the current state and trends of the development of technologies, methods and means of artificial intelligence in terms of application in the field of defense, their distinctive features are shown in relation to the traditional samples and technologies used in the defense sphere at the moment. The key problems in this subject area that are applied and need to be addressed are highlighted. The main distinctive features of the concept of artificial intelligence include the use of its technologies and methods as one of the main means to combat the poorly structured information about the operational and tactical situation on the battlefield and in the use of countermeasures and armed struggle.The results of research in the field of artificial intelligence should be used in determining and implementing directions for the further development of control systems for forces and means of armed struggle. Considerable attention should be paid to the analysis of the general experience of developing intelligent information technologies in advanced foreign countries and their application in the field of defense. The practical realization of the concept of situational management on the basis of modern intellectual technologies involves the use of methods of artificial intelligence as the main means of supporting decisionmaking in the conditions of weak informational awareness about the state of the environment, which necessitates the integrated application of knowledge processing technologies, fuzzy logic and neural network methods for solving processing problems not structured information on the state of operational and tactical situation on the battlefield. This material should be used in determining measures to identify ways to improve the system of armaments and military equipment, both in the medium and long-term perspective of its development, with regard to the further development of the control system, forces and means of armed struggle and its means (complexes).
