Radio-electronic suppression of bistatic location complexes “to transillumination”

Description: Radar bistatic complexes are an effective means of detecting small-sized and low-altitude air objects. The features of the complex are using of a wavelength range that is unconventional for radiolocation (390-430 MHz) and the implementation of a bistatic location to transillumination method. This method uses the phenomenon of a significant increase in the radar visibility of objects when re-radiating forward. The noted features determine the requirements for the means and tactics of electronic sup-pression of such complexes that are different from traditional radar. The analysis of the features of the construction of a bistatic radar complex “to transillumination” has been carried out and the requirements for the energy and spectral characteristics of active noise interference for its radio-electronic suppression have been substantiated. Relations have been found that relate the parameters of the active jammer and the range of its location to the parameters of the bistatic radar complex under the effect of active interference on the main beam and on the side lobes of the receive antenna of the radar complex. It is shown that the best option for the hidden crossing of the barrier zone is the middle of the base. In this case, the requirements for the level of interfer-ence necessary to suppress the radar complex are minimal. Proposals for using active jammers to counter bistatic radar com-plexes are developed. It is shown that from all electronic means of radar suppression of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for coun-tering radar complex “BARRIER-E” can be used only interference transmitters RP-377AM (letter 6-220...400 MHz, letter 7-400...500 MHz). If we need to completely suppress radar complex “BARRIER-E” that should be used the interference transmit-ters RP-377AM with letters 6, 7 no further than one kilometer from the receiver of the complex.
