Autonomous electric power supply systems configuration based on solar energy for military facilities

Description: Energy consumption in the history of development of human increased by more than a hundred times (per one person). However, the reserves in the nature of traditional energy sources such as coal, gas and oil are limited. Sooner or later, these sources of energy on the planet will be exhausted. It is therefore necessary to find another source of energy – alternative, nontraditional, renewable. In present time, humanity considers the following alternative sources of energy. These are the sun, wind and water. From all these sources of energy, the energy of the sun is the most interesting. Humanity should have started tapping solar energy long ago. First off all, solar energy is ecologically clean. Secondly, as long as the Earth exists, the sun's energy will be inexhaustible. The advantages of solar energy are renewability of this type of energy, the quiet, the reprocessing of solar radiation into other forms of energy without harmful emissions into the atmosphere. Unfortunately, along with advantages, this alternative source of energy has disadvantages. First off all, solar irradiation intensity depends on the time of a day and time of an year. Secondly, these energy sources require large areas for construction of solar cells. However, solar energy is the main type of alternative energy nowadays. The geographical position of Ukraine allows to get necessary quantity of solar energy. Development of electric power supply systems based on solar energy requires to take into account the modes of operation of facilities. It allows to build energy efficient and economic system. The article considers the autonomous electric power supply systems configuration based on solar energy for military facilities. The autonomous electric power supply system includes next main elements: solar panel, inverter, rechargeable battery, controller. System configuration dependents on operation mode of the military facility. These systems are very expensive in constructing. But their operating will save not only traditional energy resources but also a lot of money.
