This work is devoted to solving problems of creating an aircraft according to the principle of gas-dynamic integrity of the airframe and power plant. A survey of arrangement variants of intake devices of different types has been carried out, their advantages and disadvantages have been considered. A system of contradictory requirements has been expounded which is faced by the designer when selecting, designing and arranging intake devices in the aircraft. A well-grounded structural solution has been suggested for expanding the application field of the submerged air intake, and advantages and peculiarities of its application have been considered on the example of its arrangement in a manoeuvrable aircraft.
