The article addresses the problems of overcoming mathematical difficulties arising from a widely used least-squares method when applied to a single-point ballistic technology for determination (updating) of orbital parameters of earth-orbiting satellites, based on a single measured motion coordinate. The article specifies the conditions that ensure the minimum orbit determination errors for a single coordinate measured by a single observation point; and identifies an orbit radiocontrol strategy corresponding to these conditions. Positive research results are confirmed by the least number of iterations in solving a linear system.
