The features of target detection by surveillance pulse Doppler radar, which is placed on aircraft of airborne early radar warning and control (AWAC), and main factors, which influence on air target detection areas characteristics, are considered. The summary of method, which is considered, consist of calculating ratio of result accumulation of reflected pulses in certain Doppler filter and power of sums of self-noise and passive clutter that was accumulated in same Doppler filter for each pulse volume. Then the calculated ratio is comparing with threshold. The AWAC areas of targets detection were calculated for fighter, cruise missile and helicopter, when AWAC was situated above sea and ground. The results, which were received, are assessed results, because the surface of ground was supposed homogeneous into whole AWAC area. The method, which was considered, can be used practically for calculating actual AWAC areas on condition that actual digital maps, which describe actual reflecting properties of ground, will be used.
