The article describes existing approaches of access points' placement analysis in wireless local area networks. Proposed improved methods for determining the optimal placement, amount and radius of the coverage zones of active access points, based on the degree of proximity between wireless subscribers’ stations, considering complete coverage and maximum amount of subscribers, which can be connected to an access point simultaneously. Furthermore, the article presents a load-balancing algorithm for wireless subscribers’ stations in order to evenly distribute their amount between different access points, taking into consideration energy efficiency criteria.
