Description: The problem of formation of educational motivation of students of technical university of distance learning is addressed in the article. Based on research in psycho-pedagogical literature, different approaches to the motivational sphere of students studying remotely are analyzed. In the research, the questionnaire data to identify students dominant in their training grounds is used. Actuality and feasibility of introducing elements of historicism in the study subjects to create a positive learning motivation of students are justified. Some forms of historicism elements are revealed that have their place in distance learning. Ways of implementation of the principle of historicism in the distance learning process have been presented. It is proved that the use of historical data in the study subjects in technical university students promotes world, forms the larger culture, awakens interest in learning.
