The analysis of the accepted ionosphere electronic density description model influencing on the estimation of distance from the ground radio transmitter is conducted. It is shown that the account of radio wave refraction in the low layers of ionosphere considerably influences on the radio wave trajectory and allows to promote exactnesses of the distance estimation. Approach to the estimation of current value of sun activity index, which is necessary for practical application of ionosphere description model IRI is offered.
