Radiation monitoring control is the most effective means of struggle against radiation terrorism and unintentional radiation contamination. The radiation control allows to protect people from radiation influence caused both by the natural radiation background and by the possible illegal actions. Portal monitors are one of the main means of the radiation control. This monitors make it possible to identify radioactive materials, which are being conveyed illegally, by distinguishing them from natural and medical isotopes. Working out of normative documentation goes along with the portal monitors development. Harmonization and implementation of portal monitors standards in Ukraine will allow us to improve the manufacturing process of those up to international standards and to enhance the accuracy of results obtained during their operation.
