Description: In the article, the importance of study of the specifics of military scientific and scientific and technical supervision of the extension of the service life (ESL) of surface-to-air missiles (SAM) and directions for improving their effectiveness is substantiated. The normative and scientific and methodological base of such works is justified, the results of which allowed us to formulate the goal of the article: to increase the effectiveness of work on the extension of the service life of surface-to-air missiles by improving the regulatory and scientific and methodological support of this activity. The following issues are considered: the essence of works on extension of the service life; the objects, for which assigned indicators of service life are set (SLI); the tasks that need to be addressed with the help of the SLI; Types of SLI and their corresponding reliability indicators, which should be evaluated when establishing and updating the SLI. The main tasks of military-scientific and scientific-technical support of the work of the ESL of SAM are outlined together with the main conclusions and recommendations resulting from the experience of these works, including the results of research in the field of their scientific and methodological support in relation to the two main options for the implementation of the ESL of SAM. A method for substantiating the value of SLI of SAM is developed, based on modeling the process of changing the quantitative composition of inventory of the missile defense assets that have some of their SLI lefts and taking into account the parameters of the future work by the ESL program. Specific proposals on regulatory and scientific-methodical support for the works on the ESL of SAM and other guided weapons of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are formulated. The obtained results should be used in the development and improvement of regulatory and scientific-methodical support for the work on establishing the assigned indicators for the newly developed guided weapons and other high-risk assets, as well as for the military equipment, which are not subject to author supervision.
